Members of the Venceremos Brigade’s busy day.

On July 19th the Venceremos brigade performed voluntary agricultural work in the areas surrounding the camp. They picked up squash, planted green bean seeds, and chopped the grass surrounding the banana plantation with the aid of 15 students from the High Institute of International Relations and members of the Municipal Committee of the Young Communist League in Caimito. Due to the above mentioned interactions the members of the brigade had the opportunity to exchange with young people from college. During the encounter they learned a lot more about the Cuban youth’s interests and challenges. A spate of brigade members expressed their gratitude for the exchange with the students from the High Institute of International Relations with whom they chatted cheerily and shared the working day, lunch and the break. At 3:00 pm, the brigade received a lecture from the National Center of Sexual Education delivered by Dr. Pedro Pablo Valle, who brought the videos ¨In Search of a Dream¨ and ¨Dice to the Diversity¨. The brigade members discussed sexual education for children and youth, violence among family members, programs set out to prevent HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases among youth. The members of the brigade also talked about the treatment required to assuage the gender differences and the campaigns decrying the homophobic trend.
